Self Portrait
Self Portrait invites artists to look inward and create work in which they are the subject. This exhibition asks artists to consider what they want to reveal about their inner narrative, their role as an artist, their hopes and fears. Self portraits provide viewers a window into the soul of the artist, highlighting their cultural reference points and their place in that moment of time. Whether created for self promotion, personal discovery, validation of the artist title or simply just for fun, self portraits act as a portal into the shared human existence of each generation.

Small Works
A celebration of art on an intimate scale, this exhibition highlights the impact of pieces that may be small in size but powerful in presence. From intricate details to bold statements, Small Works proves that great art doesn’t have to be large to leave a lasting impression.

The juror for Small Works is Samo Davis.

Davis graduated from Sarah Lawrence College with a B.A. in Liberal Arts focusing on Japanese translation, creative writing, and sculpture and from Parsons School of Design with an Associates Degree in Fashion Design. Davis has worked in fashion, graphic design, and marketing, and developed their love of VR/AR when working in real estate in New York City. Davis has shown works in London, New York, Tampa, and Sarasota, showcasing smaller works before developing larger installations. Annual Juried Regional Show: Vice & Virtue
Vice & Virtue the Annual Juried Regional Show is Art Center Sarasota's largest juried show of the year and encompasses all four of our galleries. This show is open to artists in the southeast region of the United States. This year's show invites artists to explore opposing elements of our human condition. By definition, vice is a practice that is considered morally wrong in society whereas virtue is a trait of excellence. Vice & Virtue asks artists to define their perception of these “rights” and “wrongs” in our contemporary society. Cultural norms, religious beliefs and our political climate all play a role in the artist's assertion of what is good or evil. Is there a gray area in between?
Jessica Todd, Curator, Writer and Artist, will be the juror for Vice & Virtue.
- Submissions are welcome in all media including painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, mixed media, digital arts, sculpture and video.
- AI generated art is not allowed.
- All artworks must be submitted ONLINE for jurying. Awards will be chosen by the juror in person when all works are installed at Art Center Sarasota.
