Solo Exhibition Proposals:

Art Center Sarasota is now accepting proposals for solo exhibitions.  Please read this document carefully.

General Information:

• Solo shows are located in the front three galleries only.  
• Solo exhibitions are for living artists only.  "Retrospective" style shows are not permitted, all artwork should be recently created.
• Solo shows are planned 1-2 years in advance and our seasons run from October - September.  
• There are 5 cycles available for solo exhibitions. These include: Cycle 1: October - November, Cycle 2: November - January, Cycle 3: January - March, Cycle 4: March - April and Cycle 7: August - September.
• Submitting a proposal does not guarantee a solo exhibition.  Only artists who are under consideration for a solo exhibition will be contacted.  
• Submissions are reviewed by the Exhibitions Department on a rolling basis.

Required materials for your application include:

• Current CV
• Bio
• Artist Statement
• List of recognition for your work
• List of artist residencies attended
• 10 - 20 images of your work
• Exhibition Proposal

Your Exhibition Proposal should include the following information:

• An explanation of the work that will be displayed.  This should include your materials and general sizes of artwork as well as conceptual information relevant to the work.  Please keep in mind that the art center does not put on "retrospective" style exhibitions; all work in the exhibition should be made within the past 3 years.
• Show concept.  What would your show look and feel like?  What are your goals for the exhibition?
• Reason for your proposal.  Why do you believe that your show would be a good match for Art Center Sarasota?  Why do you want to work with us?
• Practical details including your ideal timeline, price points, gallery preference, technology needs and any other information that may be relevant to your vision.

UPLOADING IMAGES TO SUBMITTABLE 

Submitted artwork images should be:

• hi-res, at least 1mb
• 2D works should be cropped around the piece 
• 3D works should be placed in front of a solid background or photo backdrop
• Video submissions: File formats allowed for upload: MP4, MOV, AVI, MPG.

SUBMISSION FEES:

• General: $50
• Students: $25 - Please upload your student ID
